If you feel your mala hasn’t been sending the right vibrations, or is misaligned with your intentions, it’s probably time to cleanse your beads. As you wear your mala beads they can pick up different vibrational frequencies given off by those you spend your time with, from how you personally have dealt with a situation + from the environment that you are in. Here are a few of our favorite ways to cleanse mala beads of their vibrational energy:

  • Place them under the sunlight or moonlight. This will help to recharge them and release any of the unwanted vibrations (don’t leave them too long – to avoid fading only place them in the light for a couple of hours). Leaving them in the sunlight/moonlight can also help to kick up their energetic qualities. Some say that to lay them out under the full moon can help to give a more natural, long lasting recharge.
  • Burning sage in the presence of your mala will also help to cleanse out any energies that don’t serve you.
  • Surround your mala with some of your favorite gemstones and allow them to give off their energy to your mala.
  • Chanting or other sound vibrations can also help to release negative energy.
  • Rinse your Mala in a bowl of warm water with a touch of sea salt.

Superbowl Vegan Recipe: Green Dream Hummus

Green Dream Hummus

No Superbowl party is complete without chips + dip! This year though, skip out on the processed dip from the store + whip up this incredibly wholesome rendition of homemade hummus. It’s as simple as making a quick smoothie and features the ultra nourishing powers of Green Dream, a detoxifying blend of organic maca, mesquite, hemp powder, chia seeds, vanilla, and spirulina—an antioxidant-rich, blue-green algae that is packed with protein, minerals, and vitamins!

Gather This: 
  • 1 can cooked chickpeas (drained)

The energy of the new moon brings about a perfect time to energize your crystals, set new intentions, and cast away anything that no longer serves you. Full moons are symbolic of turning points, manifestations + closure.

 

During a Full Moon, the Moon is on the exact opposite side of the Earth from the Sun, bringing us a brightly lit spectacle. People used to plant, hunt, fish and even move by the seasons and cycles of the moon.

Living by the natural cycles of the universe and can keep you grounded and in a flow of abundance. Here are some simple steps to throwing your own Full Moon party:

 

1. Pick your venue:
Are you hosting the party in your home or outside? Lanterns, fairy lights, sparkly tinsel and starry decorations add moon-vibes to your indoor space. Drape your space in silver + white accents to bring light to outdoor settings. 
Tealight candles or a burning fireside will add a soft glow until the moonlight shines upon your party.

 

2. Recruit your Full Moon crew:
Rally together friends + family who motivate you, spark your soul and bring awareness. Invite those who may not be as spiritually advanced, too. You might be surprised and impressed by their Full Moon manifestations. 

 

3. Gather supplies:
Make sure you have everything you need for you + your guests to feel comfortable. Grab some note pads and pens for guests to manifest their intentions – or release baggage – by writing it down. After writing your intentions down, go around your circle of friends and share. Set up crystal grids with gemstones to direct cosmic energy towards a certain goal.
Cleanse your gemstones by placing them outside in the moonlight, or burn candles + smudge sticks to symbolize something you’re letting go of. Tarot cards are also a fun, spiritual activity you might wish to include.

 

4. Set the mood:
Cushions, blankets, incense burning, fire crackling. Play some soft, inspiring music and snack on fresh, detoxifying foods. Take your tribe on a stroll to watch the moon (or howl away!)

 

5. Place your written intentions somewhere sacred:

Perhaps it’s under your pillow, or placed neatly within a spiritual crystal altar. By writing your intentions down and verbally sharing them with friends, you hold yourself accountable to achieve them. The best part of this? It’s proven you’re actually more likely to achieve goals set this way. Take the time until the next New Moon or Full Moon to reflect upon how far you’ve come and what needs work.

Tiny DIY: Blanket Ladder

Predating the age of Pinterest I could justify my décor because I couldn’t exactly afford the corner section of Anthropologie. You know the one that makes your bedding seem like old newspapers when you get home. The dawn of the Pinterest era has had a way of making me feel like anything is possible. Pallets are coffee tables and decorating ensues purchasing 100 mason jars and using them for literally everything. Here is an easy way to make a blanket ladder. These guys go for about $200 at Pottery Barn. I was able to make this one for $26.

Decide how tall you want your ladder and get two pieces of identically sized wood.

Decide how wide you want your ladder and get 3-4 identical thin wooden steps.

Simply measure out the ladder and evenly place the steps.

 

Nail them in and voila, you have a blanket ladder.

If you like the look of unfinished wood like I do, simply secure the corners of the ladder steps with jute twine to achieve a rustic look.

You can also easily make a natural stain for your ladder with coffee or black tea.

Foolproof Breakfast: Overnight Oats

DSC_0269I’ve never been a breakfast person. Breakfast, prior to the whole gluten debate was once a highly contested subject. Over and over I’ve heard the countless arguments in favor of the meal, but still I struggled to have anything more than a coffee and a banana in the morning. And by banana I mean that I’ve frequently used one as a utensil to eat my Nutella with, but I digress. It’s always been this way. I remember in grade school our teacher used to ask us what we had for breakfast and the crunchy granola kids would always run down their balanced breakfasts, which in comparison made my Boston Cream Donut sound worrisome. But at last, I’ve found a solution to breakfast: Overnight Oats. They require very little effort, taste like a treat, and are good for you. Best of all, look like they stepped out of a Lauren Conrad Pinterest post.

Ingredients:
Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
1 Banana
Dry Oats
Unsweetened Coconut Shavings
Cinnamon
Honey (or Agave)

 

Directions:
Literally toss all of the above into a cute mason jar and let it sit over night in the fridge. Okay fine, you don’t have to use a cute mason jar, but I know most of you will. Hashtag breakfast!
