That being said, we don’t wake up every single day bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to take on the day. We no doubt have our slumps. #1 Infuse Intention.
When we’re not operating from a space of intention, we’re relying on our habitual ways of being. “Getting by,” if you will. Infuse intention into everything you do. How do you decide on the intention? First ask yourself what you want more of in your life. Creativity, playfulness, compassion. Then operate from that soul space.
 
#2 Move your body.
Jacki is a runner and a lover of yin yoga. MB is currently digging meditation, CrossFit and an occasional Pilates ass kicking. Whatever gets you out of your head and into your body (hello, dance party!) is all good. Just play.
 
#3 Unplug.
Leave your phone at home and go for a long walk with your pup, a hike in the mountains or along the shore. Look around. Observe. Instant dose of creativity and spaciousness.

How To Host a Full Moon Party

The energy of the new moon brings about a perfect time to energize your crystals, set new intentions, and cast away anything that no longer serves you. Full moons are symbolic of turning points, manifestations + closure.

 

During a Full Moon, the Moon is on the exact opposite side of the Earth from the Sun, bringing us a brightly lit spectacle. People used to plant, hunt, fish and even move by the seasons and cycles of the moon.

Living by the natural cycles of the universe and can keep you grounded and in a flow of abundance. Here are some simple steps to throwing your own Full Moon party:

 

1. Pick your venue:
Are you hosting the party in your home or outside? Lanterns, fairy lights, sparkly tinsel and starry decorations add moon-vibes to your indoor space. Drape your space in silver + white accents to bring light to outdoor settings. 
Tealight candles or a burning fireside will add a soft glow until the moonlight shines upon your party.

 

2. Recruit your Full Moon crew:
Rally together friends + family who motivate you, spark your soul and bring awareness. Invite those who may not be as spiritually advanced, too. You might be surprised and impressed by their Full Moon manifestations. 

 

3. Gather supplies:
Make sure you have everything you need for you + your guests to feel comfortable. Grab some note pads and pens for guests to manifest their intentions – or release baggage – by writing it down. After writing your intentions down, go around your circle of friends and share. Set up crystal grids with gemstones to direct cosmic energy towards a certain goal.
Cleanse your gemstones by placing them outside in the moonlight, or burn candles + smudge sticks to symbolize something you’re letting go of. Tarot cards are also a fun, spiritual activity you might wish to include.

 

4. Set the mood:
Cushions, blankets, incense burning, fire crackling. Play some soft, inspiring music and snack on fresh, detoxifying foods. Take your tribe on a stroll to watch the moon (or howl away!)

 

5. Place your written intentions somewhere sacred:

Perhaps it’s under your pillow, or placed neatly within a spiritual crystal altar. By writing your intentions down and verbally sharing them with friends, you hold yourself accountable to achieve them. The best part of this? It’s proven you’re actually more likely to achieve goals set this way. Take the time until the next New Moon or Full Moon to reflect upon how far you’ve come and what needs work.

Finding + Following Your Intuition

 

As spiritual beings having a human experience, we are all born with the gift of intuition; it is our birthright. As babies and young children, we are accepting of our intuitive abilities, recognizing our “sixth sense” to be just as common and matter of fact as our five physical senses. It isn’t until we start to grow up and out of our soul, knowing and identifying more with this world and our mind-thinking, that we lose touch with this innate power.

For many of us, returning to this state is simply a matter of unlearning these limiting mind thoughts and beliefs around our intuitive abilities. We must come back into our higher self’s knowing that we have access to divine knowing and insight at all times. While only some of us are able to be psychic and intuitively dialed in for others, such as myself, ALL OF US have the potential to do so for ourselves. No one is more connected to you, your higher guidance and spirits than you are!

What I have found over the years in cultivating and strengthening my own intuitive abilities, is that I’ve had to constantly address my head/heart conflict. Often times what my head is telling me conflicts with what my heart feels to be true. I used to struggle with which one to listen to and obey. Every time I followed my head, it got me into trouble or made things a lot harder than they needed to be. Whenever I listened to and honored the guidance in my heart and soul, however, I was validated with answers, solutions, and outcomes that unfolded with grace and ease. It doesn’t mean the path was always easy or care-free, but it always resulted in me becoming wiser, stronger, and braver as a result of having followed my heart.

My Spirit Guides have taught me that what it really comes down to is getting out of our heads and into our hearts. Our “monkey minds,” as the Buddhist refer to it, create endless thoughts, opinions and judgments that often times are based in fear and come from our egos. This cuts us off from our intuitive guidance and knowing, which is based in truth and love.

The heart’s guidance, on the other hand, is simple, direct, and there’s no need for a lot of words. Our feelings are our best guidance, which stem from our heart center.

A simple way to put it is this: the mind projects, while the heart directs. With that in mind, make it a point to retrain your brain into letting go of any and all fear-based thinking, surrendering these lower self thoughts to God and your Guides. Then, simply tune into your heart, checking in with your feelings, and paying attention to what these emotions are telling you in the moment. As you honor and follow the guidance in your heart, you will feel empowered and connected to a higher energy directing and acting as a guiding light in your life. You will walk in wholeness and complete alignment with your highest potential and highest guidance, thus creating endless opportunities to live and be your highest and best self!

Balance. We are all striving for it and trying to “figure it out”. Relationship balance, life balance, work balance….ugghhh we are confusing balancing with trying to live PERFECTLY (Hint: That doesn’t exist).

In the obsession to find the “balance” we often dabble in extremes. “I won’t do this” and “I won’t do that” or “I will only do this” or “I will only do that”.

We often try to limit and restrict ourselves (insert your restrictive policy here… yup we know you likely have one)

Balance is different for all of us.

But here is our idea for balance this week. Make it this week’s theme to live in balance. (And change the game of balance to fit what you want it to be).

Here’s our balance for the week:

1. Start your day with a coffee (don’t drink 3-5 during the day but savour one great coffee.
2. Don’t reach for technology until you have moved your body – whether its a walk or a few yoga stretches in bed.
3. Put your phone and computer away at the end of the work day and go outside and live life. (We have lots of ideas: yoga class, beach, hiking, bowling, game night, do crafts … shall we go on?)
4. Eat salad and greens and green juice but also include some chocolate and some richer foods. It’s okay to enjoy a delicious slice of Pizza. Actually, it’s balance.
5. Sometimes do hot yoga, other times take a yin class – sometimes skip yoga and stay in pyjamas watching Bachelor in Paradise (or whatever its called). p.s. I think its on tonight. wink emoticon
6. Somedays wear your Lululemon’s, Teekis or other yoga pants and other days just get decked to the nines.
7. Some days meditate with your Mala Beads and other days just erase the word meditation from your vocabulary. It’s ok. You have permission.

Life is messy, beautiful, inconsistent, chaotic, peaceful, busy, slow, crazy, quiet and it’s all ok. It’s all good. It’s just a lot more fun when there is an element of balance.

1. Do what you LOVE. Make sure you make time every single day to do the things that you love. Create a ritual that makes you feel divine. Maybe it’s an evening bubble bath or a morning meditation, whatever helps you feel like the radiant, loving being you are – do that.

2. Dress like a goddess. Wear whatever makes you feel vibrant! Empowerment for you could be stilettos and red lips or yoga tights and cozy knit sweater. If it makes you feel amazing, wear it!

When you learn to live without fear, your life becomes limitless. By releasing fearful thoughts you empower your spirit and begin to shift into an “anything is possible” mentality. Start letting go of fear today with these tips…

1. Challenge yourself. Face your fears head on. Do something you’ve always been afraid to do. Try a challenging yoga pose (like a handstand in the video below!) or go out on a limb and ask for something you’ve been afraid to ask for. By conquering your fears you’ll soon see you had nothing to be afraid of in the first place. You’ll empower yourself. You’ll become unstoppable.

2. Use a mantra to release fear. When you sense fear and anxiety creeping into your mind, use the power of a mantra to let it go. The mantra above is from spirit junkie, Gabby Bernstein and is one of our all-time faves.

3. Make a gratitude list. Sometimes it’s easy to become overwhelmed when your mind starts to turn down a fearful road. One really effective tool to stop fear in its tracks is to shift your attitude to gratitude. By writing down and saying allowed everything you’re grateful for you’ll begin to transform from a fearful mindset to a loving mindset.

7. Treat a friend, co-worker, or family member to a delicious home-cooked meal, or bake something delicious and share it with members of your yoga studio after class. Nothing tastes sweeter than a meal made with love!

8. Write an epic and positive review online for a local business you visit regularly! They will be over-the-moon with appreciation.

9. What’s the last book you read that made an impact? Pass it off to a friend. Maybe it will be as meaningful to her as it was to you.

10. Make sure the subject of your random act of kindness pays it forward to! Keep the positivity flowing.

A message from our sweet friend Kris Carr

Some people tie a string around their finger as a reminder. I wear a mala. It’s my spiritual forget-me-not. A tap on the shoulder throughout the day, encouraging me to pause, breathe and come back to my deepest intentions. They motivate me to invest in moments of self-care and compassion. So when Tiny Devotions’ emailed to ask if I wanted to design two special malas, I jumped at the chance!

Before I get to our creations, their unique meanings, I wanted to share some background on malas with you. And since Diana is my resident mala expert, I connected with her to get the scoop on what makes malas so special and how you can use them in your everyday life.

Kris: What are mala beads?

Diana: For those of you who don’t know, mala beads (also known as prayer beads) are meditation garlands that have been worn for thousands of years in traditions of Buddhism, Hinduism, yoga and meditation. Whether or not they’re tied to your religion is totally up to you. Mala beads are usually used for japa meditation. During japa meditation you would recite a positive affirmation or mantra along each bead. This practice can help you achieve a more calming, connected and spiritual state.

Typical garlands contain 108 beads made from gemstones, wood or Rudruksha seeds that match your intention or affirmation. Malas love attention, so placing them around your neck, on your altar or running them through your fingertips daily, keeps them (and you!) vibrationally tuned. They’re a constant reminder that you are not alone, that you are powerful, complete and that everything is possible.

Kris: How do I set an intention?

Diana: Setting an intention is important to align your beads with purpose and ground you for success. One common blockage people struggle with when choosing mala beads is figuring out what their dream or intention should be.

When in doubt, ask yourself :

  • What do I want?
  • If you cannot answer this, ask yourself: What do I not want?

Once you’ve narrowed it down, infusing your beads is as simple as focusing on your intention with beads in hand. Whenever you stray or waiver, simply pick up your mala and take a moment or two to realign with your desire.
