What is Sacred Geometry and how can you benefit from it?

The term ‘Geometry’ has its origin from two Greek words: Geos, which mean Earth and Metron, which means ‘to measure.’ The two words together literally mean ‘measuring the earth’ or ‘earthly measurements.’ Measuring the earth was an art that was traditionally restricted to the priesthood.

Sacred geometry has been around across the ages, beginning with the Minoans, the Egyptians, Sumerians, Hindus, Chinese, Phoenicians, and the Greeks who offered it to the public.

Sacred geometry refers to the various shapes and forms that were traditionally used in architecture, art, and meditation through the centuries. They are the same forms and shapes that are found in natural organisms.

To many people, sacred geometry seems to be esoteric but it is important to understand the same as they could help us view our world, which could be useful in our own life.

In ancient cultures, there was the recognition that various patterns or geometric shapes appear repeatedly throughout nature such as the spiral shell of snails and the hexagonal honeycombs. These common shapes and patterns that can be seen in nature are referred to as sacred geometry. Sacred geometry may be broken down further in mathematical formulas and symbols that form the building blocks of everything in the universe.

This ancient theory is supported by modern science because the molecular shapes form the basis of life, the same shapes that are identified by ancient cultures.

It is believed that the construction of sacred structures, such as mosques, temples, monuments, megaliths, and churches; sacred spaces such as tabernacles or altars; historical buildings, such as the pyramids of Egypt, the Parthenon in Greece, and the temples found throughout South and Central America; meeting places; and the creation of religious arts and iconography. Sacred geometry in arts may be ephemeral, such as sand paintings, medicine wheels, and visualization.

Sacred geometry is a worldview of pattern recognition. It is a complex system of religious structures and symbols that involve time, space, and form. Following this view, the basic patterns of existence are sacred. By studying the nature of the forms, patterns, and relationships and their connections, it will be easier to gain an insight into the history and mysterious laws of the Universe.

 

Sacred Geometry’s significant shapes

 

Sphere

 

It is a container that has the ability to hold all forms. Sphere represents inclusion, oneness, and integrity because all measurements are equal in a sphere. The spherical shape can be seen in planets, cells, seeds, and atoms.

 

Circle

 

It is a two-dimensional representation of the sphere. It shows the total completeness and unity of the universe. The ratio of its circumference compared to its diameter is the Pi, an infinite number that never ends.

 

Point

 

It is the center of both a sphere and a circle. The point is the beginning and the end of all measurements, hence its association with the beginning and the end of all creations.

 

Spirals

 

All types of spirals – flat, right-handed, left-handed, 3-D, equiangular, or logarithmic – show expansion and growth, which makes them symbolize infinity.

 

Toroids

 

A torus is similar to an inner tube, with the round sides perfectly circular. The torus is a primary shape in sacred geometry, such as the seven primary muscles in the heart having a toroid shape.

 

The Vesica Piscis

 

The words are Latin for a bladder of fish. It is actually the intersection of two circles having the same size as their centers touching each other. It represents common ground between people. It is the symbol of Christ in the Christian religion.

 

Platonic solids

 

They are 3-dimensional shapes with each one made of equal-sized faces. The platonic solids are:

 

  • Tetrahedron – 4 faces of pyramid shapes
  • Hexahedron – 6 faces such as a cube
  • Octahedron – 8 faces
  • Dodecahedron – 12 faces
  • Icosahedron – 20 faces

 

Metatron’s Cube

 

The Metatron’s cube contains all the Platonic solids, making it called the building blocks of creation. Metatron in Judaism is the angel who is guarding God’s throne.

 

Flower of Life

It is represented by several evenly-spaced circles that overlap each other, forming a flower-like pattern. The Flower of Life contains all the Platonic solids and Metatron’s Cube.

 

The Golden Ratio

 

It is a mathematical ratio occurring when two items having the same ratio when compared to each other as the ratio of their sum compared to the larger of the two items.

More than just accessories, Mala beads are meditation tools that have been used for thousands of years. They encourage us to pause, breathe and realign with our deepest intentions. They motivate us to invest in moments of self-care and compassion. They’re our spiritual forget-me-nots, and they’re also beautiful. One of the questions we get asked most is “How do I choose a Mala?”. Choosing by intention is a great way to get started, there are other factors you should also consider when choosing a Mala.

Intention

Hold the vision and trust the process. This is the most personal part of the process. What do you want to create in your life? What are you working on? What do you truly desire? What are you struggling with? Ask yourself these questions and see if they guide to what you want to create as your intention. Once you get clear on what you want your intention to be, you will create a clear path. Intentions are all about you + what you want to achieve in your life!

Beauty

Things that you are attracted to are an integral part of your healing process. Whether it be a beautiful landscape, a cute animal or a gorgeous mala; stop and take a moment to observe the things you find beautiful. Develop your own personal aesthetic. Meditate on this and strive to see beauty in everything. Surrounding yourself with beautiful and uplifting things is very powerful. What are Mala Beads?

Mala is the Sanskrit word for garland. While simply being in the presence of these Mala Beads or Malas as they are called for short is powerful, these magical beads are commonly used in the spiritual practice of Japa Meditation. Malas have 108 beads to count while reciting, chanting, or repeating a chosen mantra or intention. They are also deeply devotional and can be used in the repetition of sacred names or words like Om, Om Shanti Shanti Shanti, I am Love, I am Peaceful, etc.

When we select a word or series of words to repeat in the form of a mantra, we’re affirming it to ourselves, allowing its meaning to sink below the surface into our subconscious, helping to shift negative vibes into positive ones. When we realize the effect we have on the environment, and the inherent unity we have with it, we can live more harmoniously with the natural flow of life.

My favorite products have a low impact on the environment, are kind to animals, and are made without exploitation or oppression of humanity. We live in a world of abundance and beauty, and it is a practice of gratitude to enjoy all of the physical creations and manifestations of others’ energy. Try to repurpose, reuse, and recycle old or others’ belongings into something you can save from throwing away. Because there is no “away,” and everything we do impacts this earth. Devotion to the Ocean: How to Rock Mermaid Style on Land

Processed with VSCOcam with k2 presetMorning surf sessions are vital.  Although they don’t leave much time (or energy) for getting ready post-slide, we have Mother Nature to thank for helping us out.  The transition from sea to land isn’t as tough as we think.  Mermaid style is effortless.  It is as simple as cutoffs over a bikini and coconut oil in your hair… minimal or no make-up and gold dainty jewelry.  The little secret to the mermaid muse is… it’s easy.  And we like easy.  Because let’s face it.. we’d rather be surfing.  Here are a few style tips every sea babe should know:

1.  Find jewelry you can wear in and out of the water.  I am constantly in and out of the water and I don’t have time to be taking my jewelry on and off.  Tiny Devotions has an awesome line of feel-good jewelry that literally exude positive energy as soon as you put them on.  I have the Gangster Stack that came with me to Maui.. in the water, sand, and all elements.

4.  Effortless beach waves are a forever yes.  Don’t have time to run to the ocean to get your hair all salty?  There is still hope to waking up with those beach locks you love.  This, this, and this.  You’ll thank me later.

5.  Always keep a bikini, beach blanket, and sandals in the back of your car. Enough said.

6. Save money on clothes, so you can buy surfboards and pretty fins.  Find awesome statement pieces from your favorite brands, and then stick with the basics.  Boyfriend jeans, vintage washed tee’s, cutoff’s, and bikinis are pretty much what I’ve been living in lately.

7.  Sun-kissed skin can be safe.  Bronzer will give you an extra glow, you won’t have to do much more (this is the one I use and I will never go back to any other brand.. Leaves my skin bright and sun kissed all day long).  My usual beauty routine consists of tamed brows, a dust of bronzer, blush, and a little illuminating powder.

Processed with VSCOcam with k3 preset8. Less is more.  Makeup is used to compliment your beauty, not cover it up.  Use the “less is more” mentality when applying and let your beauty shine through.  It gives you more time to enjoy little things, like your favorite cup of tea in the morning, or one extra wave.

9. Get a good pair of sunnies.  Keep your eyes happy and find a pair of sunglasses you love.  Sunglasses are like a marriage.. you’ll want them forever and feel kind of lost without them.  I literally take mine everywhere.  Everywhere.  I wear them more than I wear shoes.

10. Smile.  It’s good for the soul.

Now get off the computer and go in the ocean, you mermaid.
