Our top five boho beauty tricks that every goddess should know!

eIZny2SPnVaQN0MdZyiwhOFpg5QiHDlKHdum78cPk38Hello Boho Beauties!

I’ve been wondering lately, what is it about beauty that we are all so enamoured by?

When we see something that we consider beautiful, be it a person, an outfit, or a piece of art, something magical happens within us.

Our hearts beat faster and our breath pauses, suddenly we feel captivated by its presence.

We intuitively feel this depth of power held within that feeling, but very few know how to tap into it.

We all inherently know that beauty is not just the way you wear your hair, it is not the colour of your skin, and it’s not the cute boho frock you just bought from that vintage shop either (although I’m sure it looks fabulous on you!)

Beauty is much deeper than the visual context in which we often see it.

It is alive, it breathes, it expands; like lungs taking in deep, fresh ocean air.

It takes more than a keen eye to capture it, and more than fashion sense to express it.

As a Brand expert and Photographer, it is part of my core purpose to explore and share beauty in all its many forms.

And while I love how it manifests through colors, shapes, design and the coming together of elements that compliment one another, I want to share with you how to fully embody beauty in a way that will enhance your life more than you ever thought possible (awesome heart racing feeling included!)

A True Boho Beauty knows that:

  • When she compliments another person, her own beauty both outwardly and within is amplified. Of course this compliment must be genuine, heartfelt and coming from a place of pure love and the desire to see another person feel truly beautiful by such a compassionate reflection.

  • Beauty is a gift. When we experience it our lives are instantly heightened by it’s presence. Be it from the simplicity of a flower, to the perfect pairing of prints of prints, there is something about it that soothes the soul.

  • Committing to a path of beauty takes daily action, but when those actions are taken, something profound and magical arises.  For what we feel within ourselves is what we draw toward ourselves, and the more beautiful we feel, the more beauty will arise in our lives.

  • Receiving a compliment is as important as giving one. When we learn to receive the universe is able to provide us with even more, to the point that our cups are so full we are able to give tenfold.

Here are 5 Easy Boho Beauty Actions you can take today:

1. Connect. Reach out to someone you know that would benefit by you sharing what you truly see in them.  Tell them what makes them special, why you appreciate them, and that you really believe that they are beautiful inside and out.  This act alone can heal, transform and change lives.

2. Nourish. Take time to nourish your inner beauty through a self care practice. It can be a nourishing meal, a walk along the beach, a deep yoga practice, or a movie night with friends.  Whatever it is that makes you feel at ease on every level of your being.

3. Adorn. Put on an accessory or item of clothing that makes you feel beautiful, something that when you see in the mirror you feel radiant and confident wearing. The act of adornment is a sacred process, we honour our bodies and our self expression through the art of fashion.

4. Clear. Clean up your space. Your environment is just as important as your physical and inner beauty. A beautiful environment is like a fresh breath of air, you are able to peace more at ease within the space, which leaves more room for true creativity and peace.

5. Create. Make art, you don’t have to be a professional artist to create something beautiful. Grab some pencil crayons, paint or clay, and have some fun. Allow yourself to be free with what comes through. Put on some good music and release the need to control. You may surprise yourself with how talented you really are!

To help you with this practice I recommend the Awakening Mala as it helps you to fully embody your own inner potential while appreciating and feeling gratitude for the beauty that already surrounds you everyday.

Be Present. Be Strong. Be Stunning. Be Well. Be You, with Megan Orser.

megorser1She’s an inspiring young business owner who believes in staying healthy, focused and strong. We caught up with Megan Orser to talk about what makes her world so inspiring!

Hello!  My name is Megan Orser, I am a twenty-something year old certified STOTT Pilates Instructor, Personal Trainer and Barre Instructor.  I have recently started my own small training business, ‘Breath of Fresh Air’ and am delighted to be partnering with Tiny Devotions!

Why I got inspired to MOVE.

In my personal life, I have experienced several physical set backs, including two kidney transplants, as well as back surgery to correct a scoliosis curve.  I struggled with an eating disorder throughout high school and as a result, I started working out with a dangerous motivation.  While the motivation didn’t necessarily come from the right place, it was one of the best things I could have done.  I ended up working for GoodLife and started doing personal training sessions there.  My trainer was the first person to identify my eating disorder and refused to train me unless I had properly nourished my body.  She helped me change my mind-set from focusing on being ‘skinny’ to wanting to be healthy and gain muscle.  After that, I was hooked!  I wanted to have the same impact on people’s lives and soon got certified as a Personal Trainer Specialist at the age of seventeen.  From there, fitness has always been a part of my life.  It helps me to stay focused, to stay strong and to treat my body with the respect it deserves.

My Intentions

‘Be Present. Be Strong. Be Well. Be You.’ I spent a lot of time creating the tagline for my business.  I wanted it to mirror the values and intentions that I set for myself on a daily basis.  Be Present. Be Strong. Be Well. Be You.  It just fit.  It captured all of components that I hope to achieve on a daily basis as well as inspire the people around me to achieve.

What is your favourite mala and why?

My favourite mala is the Awakening Mala.  I have wanted a Tiny Devotions Mala for over a year now, but it seemed like such a big commitment and I could not find just one mala that I associated best with; until they released the Awakening Mala.  I immediately fell in love with the crisp white gem and the focus on accepting ones surroundings for what they are.  I was in a point in my life where I needed some motivation to awaken my potential and have the strength to reach my higher potential.

Confessions of a Boho Fashionista: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

mirrormirror1 Hey Boho Beauties,

Last May I moved into my dream apartment. Something about it just oozed magic. It was my first time living without another person. Before I’d rented the place, which sat under oak trees and always smelled like maple syrup, I was dreading spending the summer solo.

But it didn’t take long before I realized that I’d created a sanctuary for myself. It was my own personal palace that I’d subconsciously designed in which to celebrate and support myself.  I’d unpacked plush throws, adorned the place in vanilla candles and hung flowing satin curtains. There was something sparkly about this space that was much different than any other home I’d lived in.  Every morning I rose, feeling excited about all of the synchronicities that might happen throughout the day, and late in the evenings I was inspired to write all of my greatest stories.

Friends from near and far would appear with gifts and stay late to drink wine, laugh and dance long into the night.  We would share stories of all of the places we’d been and the exciting people we’d met there.  One night in the thick of the summer, after cooking the largest fresh salmon I’d ever laid eyes on, we sat doe eyed around the stone fire.

“Your home is enchanting,” said one of my pals. “I noticed though, there’s something is missing.”

“What’s that?” I replied.

“You don’t have any mirrors,” she said, “None in the bathroom, no mirrors anywhere. What’s the deal?”

I looked around. She was right, there were no mirrors in my apartment. May had rushed into June and June shifted smoothly into July. Here we were smack dab in the middle of August and I’d not placed a mirror on any of my walls. I looked around the glow that lit up this circle of my closest friends. My gaze shifted lovingly from pal to pal: Their wide eyes, their open hearts, their curious minds.

Then it hit me: I had many mirrors.  The mirrors I’d placed around my home were much more valuable than any picture of myself in a glass reflection.  The home I’d created and the beautiful gal pals in it were the best mirrors I could have picked out.awakening

Next time you’re self-reflecting, pop on your Awakening Mala and remember that all that you have created in your life is a beautiful reflection of who you are, no mirrors required.

Our interview with Angela Leigh

971230_10102099047049788_559752014_nI am pretty sure in my past life I was a journalist as I love asking questions of those that inspire me. In fact, I love asking others what inspires them, drives them, lights them up, pulls at their heart strings and essentially what sets their soul on fire.

So, today, I answer a couple questions to see how the other shoe fits.

What brought you to the mat for the first time?

Stress. I was a big ball of anxiety. I was a young, ambitious, career-driven and emotionally-devoid woman who was subcounsciously craving a connection within myself that was clearly lacking. I was always looking outside for the answers…little did I know the answers were already within me. My soul sister, Suzy Nece, dragged me into the studio and within a few breaths & tears I was hooked. I uncovered an outlet to connect to myself in a way I hadn’t experienced before. I was able to turn off everything and be still, honest, raw, vulnerable and open to change. My practice is deeply special & personal…it is a mirror to my soul, it will never lie to me, it keeps me pure and focused.

How do you set intentions in life?

Intention evokes action.

Action creates change.

Change inspires growth.

Growth develops confidence.

Confidence trumps fear.

Fear loses to bravery.

Bravery is necessary to dream beyond what is comfortable.

I set intentions daily. To create pure intentions I changed my lens of life from fear to love. When I changed how I saw myself life became more clear, more fun and much more FULL.

Intentions are only as good as you are willing to take the actions to feel the change. And yes, that takes a leap of faith and probably a lot of courage. But I personally would rather feel the free fall than the safety of staleness.

What inspires me?

Vulnerability. I connect to authenticity. I respond to realness. I love hard. When the walls are down this heart opens up and it runs deep. That kind of connection truly inspires me to take action and create change. Our world is not going to fix itself. We need to share our stories, support one another and encourage everyone along the way.

What is your favorite mala & why?

Awakening Mala.

There is a purity of the mind, body and soul that needs to be aligned to create intentions and that purity comes from self-acceptance. Without that pure, unconditional love for ourselves it is challenging to overcome obstacles that stand in our way of our intentions. This mala awakens that purity. And I love all things PURE.
