Balance. We are all striving for it and trying to “figure it out”. Relationship balance, life balance, work balance….ugghhh we are confusing balancing with trying to live PERFECTLY (Hint: That doesn’t exist).

In the obsession to find the “balance” we often dabble in extremes. “I won’t do this” and “I won’t do that” or “I will only do this” or “I will only do that”.

We often try to limit and restrict ourselves (insert your restrictive policy here… yup we know you likely have one)

Balance is different for all of us.

But here is our idea for balance this week. Make it this week’s theme to live in balance. (And change the game of balance to fit what you want it to be).

Here’s our balance for the week:

1. Start your day with a coffee (don’t drink 3-5 during the day but savour one great coffee.
2. Don’t reach for technology until you have moved your body – whether its a walk or a few yoga stretches in bed.
3. Put your phone and computer away at the end of the work day and go outside and live life. (We have lots of ideas: yoga class, beach, hiking, bowling, game night, do crafts … shall we go on?)
4. Eat salad and greens and green juice but also include some chocolate and some richer foods. It’s okay to enjoy a delicious slice of Pizza. Actually, it’s balance.
5. Sometimes do hot yoga, other times take a yin class – sometimes skip yoga and stay in pyjamas watching Bachelor in Paradise (or whatever its called). p.s. I think its on tonight. wink emoticon
6. Somedays wear your Lululemon’s, Teekis or other yoga pants and other days just get decked to the nines.
7. Some days meditate with your Mala Beads and other days just erase the word meditation from your vocabulary. It’s ok. You have permission.

Life is messy, beautiful, inconsistent, chaotic, peaceful, busy, slow, crazy, quiet and it’s all ok. It’s all good. It’s just a lot more fun when there is an element of balance.

#SoulFULLFall Day 2: Work with Soul

Mantra: I am thriving, prosperous and full of creative energy

Monday morning can be a grind. Whether you work in an office or from home, getting back into the flow and routine of your job can be a struggle.

Good news? It doesn’t have to be that way. By changing your attitude and spicing up your routine you can transform your work routine into a #soulFull, enjoyable experience! Here are a few tips to get you started…

1. Focus on what you love. Instead of complaining about all the tasks you hate, focus on what you love about your job! Ask yourself, what drew you to your career in the first place? What we think about, we amplify. If you focus on what you love, your whole day will become more enjoyable!

2. Build a community. Connect with colleagues. Go out for lunch together, create an office book club, or share personal stories about your friends and family. Working with friends can be so much fun! So, strengthen your workplace bonds and relationships.

3. Take breaks and time for yourself. Meditate during break or go for a walk around the block. Do things to make yourself feel good during your workday and you will see a spike in a productivity, focus and enjoyment.

Snap a pic of your new #soulFULLfall routine and post it to social media using the #soulFULLfall hashtag for your chance to win an epic Tiny Devotions and Essence of Living prize pack!

Essential Oils 101 with Hol:Fit

I’m so excited to talk a little today about something that has really changed the way I approach health in my body and in my home and quite honestly – it’s causing a revolution across the globe.

I’m talking about 100% pure love from the earth in the form of essential oils.

How many of you have used herbal or homeopathic medicine before? Well did you know that pure essential oils are stronger than that? In fact, 1 drop of pure peppermint essential oil is the equivalent of about 28 cups of peppermint herbal tea? Pow!

Ange Oil 1

You may be like me and have a bottle of tea tree oil, lavender or perhaps a ‘bigger gun’ like oil of oregano. I had these for years in my cabinet and would pull them out from time to time. I can’t say I really knew much about them at the time, but bought them to start making a few of of my own cleaners. As a mama of 2 girls, when I first became pregnant, I was suddenly uber aware of all the toxins we face everyday.

Well fast forward to about a year ago, a friend and I were talking about this company doTERRA, that produces the most pure + potent essential oils in the world. If you’ve ever taken a coaching program with me or follow me on social media, you know that I’m very passionate about giving the body the cleanest, most whole materials so that it can heal itself and thrive. My daily VIP list includes whole foods {lots of plants}, clean water, daily sweaty movement, love, creativity + gratitude.  And now these essential oils have blown my mind and become my latest passion.

Here’s why:

Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts made up of volatile organic compounds. Although they are fat soluble, they do not include fatty lipids or acids found in vegetable and animal oils. Essential oils are very clean, almost crisp, to the touch and are immediately absorbed by the skin. Pure, unadulterated essential oils are translucent and range in color from crystal clear to deep blue.

They are used for a very wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications. They can be used a single oil at a time or in complex blends depending on user experience and desired benefit. They are usually used by one of three methods: diffused aromatically, applied topically or taken internally if they are 100% pure.

Today, doTERRA’s Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils are the highest quality you can purchase. This is due to their indigenous sourcing, extraction methods and testing. They are so pure you can use them on everyone from babies to pets!

If I was to just pick 3 oils that I love + use every day it would be these gems:
